I am currently a graduate student in the School of Environment, Enterprise and Development (SEED) in the University of Waterloo. My research focuses of sustainable tourism planning and cross-sector partnerships, specifically looking into prospects and challenges for viability of SSF in Ría Lagartos, Mexico.
I am currently conducting research based on sustainable and responsible tourism planning as a tool for sustainable development, and the prospects and challenges of small-scale fishing communities. I am exploring promising trends in fisheries management, the new roles of fishermen in the tourism sector according to the Yucatan’s latest tourism and sustainability government plans. I will be conducting research in the municipalities of the Ria Lagartos Biosphere Reserve in Yucatan, Mexico using an I-adapt case study method.
