Revarunan is currently pursuing his PhD in fisheries management at the Graduate School of Business, Universiti Tun Abdul Razak, Malaysia. His research interest includes the livelihoods, vulnerabilities and viabilities of small-scale fishing communities, management of marine protected areas, crisis coping strategies, and resilience. Revarunan will conduct an I-ADApT case study to explore the socioeconomic, ecological and governance issues in small-scale fisheries in marine protected areas in Malaysia. His research findings could influence policymakers in addressing the vulnerability in small scale fisheries in marine protected areas and develop effective strategies for sustainable fisheries and livelihoods. His experience conducting research on fisheries stock and conservation in the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia and as a research assistant equipped him with in-depth knowledge on the various issues in fisheries at the national and regional levels. Revarunan also holds a Bachelor’s in Fisheries and a master’s degree in Tropical Fisheries from Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), Malaysia.
