Raja Bhushanam Singavarapu is a committed development practitioner with a deep passion for experiential learning and knowledge dissemination. Raised in a disciplined, working-class family, Raja cultivated a strong ethical foundation and an early interest in journalism through consistent newspaper reading. This interest guided him to pursue a Master’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Osmania University in Hyderabad, India.
Raja's professional career began as a Public Relations and Information executive for a database and Information Technology organization. Over the subsequent 15 years, he built a diverse portfolio in media, working across corporate communication, television, print, and digital platforms. Driven by a desire to deepen his impact, Raja transitioned into academia, earning a doctorate in Health Communication. He is currently associated with the Coastal Sustainability and Resilience Foundation (CSRF) in Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, India.
A pivotal moment in Raja's career was his participation in the V2V Global Partnership Field School during which he researched the ecological changes in Kolleru Lake and their effects on marginalized communities, particularly small-scale fishers. Raja present these findings at the Human Dignity International Conference in Sri Lanka, organized by the University of Calgary and other Canadian universities, highlighting the challenges faced by small-scale fishermen.
Raja's research interests encompass media advocacy, development communication, climate change, environmental conservation, and public health. Through his work, he strives to bridge academic research with practical fieldwork, advocating for sustainable solutions and the empowerment of marginalized communities.
