Astha Priya

Astha Priya received her B.Sc. degree in Health Sciences from the University of Waterloo. She is currently pursuing her Master’s in Environmental Studies in Sustainability Management, at the University of Waterloo’s School of Environment, Enterprise and Development (SEED) under the supervision of Prof. Prateep Kumar Nayak. Her research focuses on the effects of environmental factors on mental health, and specifically how health policy interventions can be improved to foster strong, sustainable, small-scale fishery communities - thus, reducing health vulnerabilities and increasing viability. She is interested in the public health sector of sustainability management and hope to make adequate health care more accessible and equitable for all, thereby focusing on Sustainable Development Goal 3. She has received numerous scholarships during her undergraduate career and followed her passions by being an avid volunteer for public hospitals and local NGOs.
