Milena Arias-Schreiber

Milena Arias-Schreiber is a Marine Social Sciences Researcher at the School of Global Studies in the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. She is holder of a Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellowship at the Department of Applied Economics (EqualSea lab) in the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain. Her research has focused on the values and governance of small-scale fisheries in the Baltic Sea, the social dimensions of ecosystem-based management and fishers’ job satisfaction and motivations to fish. With colleagues from Sweden, she is studying the potential of seafood relocalization and pluriactivity for the valorization of small-scale fisheries in coastal rural development. In Spain, she is working on the identification and analysis of socio-cultural contributions to coastal communities of on-foot shellfish collectors Galician women.
