Denis W. Aheto is an Associate Professor in coastal ecology and management. He holds a Ph.D degree in Envrinmental Sciences (Bremen); M.Sc. in Rural Development Studies (Uppsala); M.Sc. Tropical Aquatic Ecology (Bremen). Denis has working knowledge in Fisheries Policy, Maritime Regulation and Enforcement. He has over 20 peer-reviewed scientific articles in Nature, Ocean and Coastal Management, Wetlands, Regional Studies in Marine Science, Journal of Coastal Conservation, Environmental Sciences Europe, West African Journal of Applied Ecology, Sustainability, PLOS ONE, among others. He has received over US$ 100,000 individual research grants/ awards including the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service, Bonn) Prize in 2007 for academic merits, most committed student scientific contribution at the University of Bremen, and the Distinguished Lecturer Award of Honour in 2015 by the University of Cape Coast for his dexterity and outstanding contributions to the University. He is a member of the UNESCO Man and Biosphere National Committee under the auspices of the Environmental Protection Agency of Ghana. He enjoys cycling and table tennis.
