University of Waterloo
Dr. Andrea Collins is an Assistant Professor in the School of Environment, Resources and Sustainability (SERS) at the University of Waterloo. Prior to joining SERS, Dr. Collins obtained her Ph.D. in Political Studies from Queen's University, Canada and was a SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute of Political Economy at Carleton University. Her research examines the role of gender in the governance of food, land, and agriculture, both locally and globally and builds upon conceptions of local, national, and global governance by considering the gendered sociopolitical dynamics that discipline land use and governance. Her recent projects include a SSHRC-funded project examining the gendered dimensions of the G8 New Alliance for Food Security and Nutrition in sub-Saharan Africa and evaluating policy-making on gender in the UN Committee for World Food Security.
