Alvin Chelliah has been working with Reef Check Malaysia for the past 10 years and is currently based on Tioman working closely with the local community on a long term effort to build social and ecological resilience on the island. Alvin also setup the Tioman Marine Conservation Group, a group of islanders that are closely involved in conservation activities and co-management efforts alongside with the Department of Fisheries Malaysia. He pursued a degree in Marine Science from University Malaysia Sabah and a Master's degree in the same field from the National University of Malaysia.
