Mina Samiee is a graduate student pursuing her Master's in Sustainability Management (Water) at the University of Waterloo, Canada. She completed her Bachelor’s of Geology in 1997 in Iran and has been working as a kindergarten teacher in Canada for 15 years. During her undergraduate program in Iran, her research project was mainly focused on underground and surface water. Considering Iran that has a dry climate with minimum surface water, she used to work on how to use and save the underground waters through special system in Iran (locally called "Qanat") and how to use it in modern technology. She used to study the mechanism and locality of dams in different geological surfaces. There are serious concerns around the efficiency of using using the underground water in Iran because of some unfunctional policies in Iran.
