Dr. M. Mokhlesur Rahman a renowned development worker and pioneer in demonstrating community-based natural resources management in Bangladesh through a number of donor-supported projects. He has designed several wetlands, fisheries, and biodiversity/forest management projects including a NAPA follow-up project on “Community-based CCA through coastal afforestation” for the government.
During his Professional career, he has also completed a number of Short-term consultancies with UNDP, USAID, DFID, Worldfish, World Bank, IFAD, IUCN and GIZ-GOPA. His professional involvement includes Vice Chair and member, IUCN Bangladesh National Committee, Member, Ecosystem Commission of IUCN, Member, Zoological Society of Bangladesh. He served as Review Editor of IPBES document on Environmental Governance (2016-2018). Dr. Rahman also engaged as Associate Professor (part time), Department Environmental Science and Management at North South University, Bangladesh (2015-2017).
He has completed his M.Sc. in Zoology (Fisheries) from Dhaka University and completed an MA on Participation, Power and Social Change from IDS, University of Sussex, UK in 2006-2007. He also completed PhD research at Curtin University, Perth, Western Australia on “Community Perceptions and Adaptations to Climate Change in the Coastal Area of Bangladesh” during 2009-2014. He has the wide range of scientific and research publications in the reputed journals.
